// microneedling with exosomes

Exosomes are tiny nanovesicles, which play a vital role in cellular communication and immune function and the regeneration of aged and damaged cells.

When delivered into the skin dermis by microneedling, they have been shown to improve skin quality, reduce scarring and pigmentation and smooth fine lines.

At Dr Hannah Bell, I use the Purasome range by Dermaroma. An exosome-based product range that is highly effective, as well as ethically sourced. The range includes Purasomes NC150+ Skin Nutri Complex for tired and aged skin, Purasomes SGC100+ Skin Glow Complex for dull, damaged and hyperpigmented skin and Purasomes HSC50+ Hair & Scalp Complex for thin and damaged hair.

The exosomes are derived from bovine colostrum, which is rich in antibodies, growth factors, proteins, vitamins and minerals. It has long been used by humans for health benefits that include boosting immunity and improving gastrointestinal health.

Bovine colostrum is the optimal substitute for human colostrum, while also containing less lactose and more proteins. It has the richest source of growth factors and a high content of antibodies, antioxidants, cytokines, lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase, which all contribute to effective skin and hair regeneration.

The Purasome Range

*Purasomes NC150+ Skin Nutri Complex for tired and aged skin

With a powerful regenerative mechanism, Purasomes NC150+ triggers fibroblast production to stimulate collagen and dramatically improve skin’s structure, strength and elasticity.

*Purasomes SGC100+ Skin Glow Complex for dull, damaged and hyperpigmented skin

By promoting cell turnover, accelerating blood vessel formation, facilitating skin healing and decreasing inflammation, Purasomes SGC100+ revitalises skin to rebuild a flawless and luminous complexion.

*Purasomes HSC50+ Hair & Scalp Complex for thin and damaged hair

The impressive hair-rescue formula used in Purasomes HSC50+ resets the strength of the dermal papilla to reactive normal hair growth function, leading to less hair loss, enhanced scalp health and an improvement in hair quality.

What Happens During the Procedure?

I will cleanse your skin, and then use a microneedling device which creates tiny channels in the skin of the face and neck, stimulating collagen and elastin and allowing the Purasomes to penetrate and be delivered into the dermis to where they need to be. Your appointment will be 30 minutes long.

What Are The Side Effects?

Expect your skin to be slightly red immediately after your treatment. This should disappear within a few hours. Your skin may feel tight and slightly dry for 3 or 4 days afterwards. You should avoid touching the area for at least 6 hours, and avoid washing your face or applying makeup for 12 hours to allow the Purasomes to work.

This treatment is not suitable if you have you have active acne, herpes simplex (cold sores) or skin infection, and is best delayed until this has settled.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Depending on the severity of your concerns, I advise 2-4 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart for best results.

Pre/After Care Advice

Product with ‘active’ ingredients such as Retinol or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, should be paused for at least 4 days before and after treatment.

Do not wear any makeup to your microneedling appointment.

For 6 hours- avoid touching the treated area so not to introduce infection into the micro-channels which have been created

For 24 hours- avoid strenuous exercise or hot environments (saunas steam rooms, hot showers, sunbathing). Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment as this increases the risk of bleeding.

Avoid sun-exposure for 48 hours after treatment, and ensure factor >30 SPF is applied.
