Collagen Biostimulation Treatment
Sculptra is a Poly-L-Lactic Acid collagen biostimulator, which does not fill. Instead it stimulates your own fibroblasts to produce increased collagen over time. This gives a natural lifting effect, with progressive improvement in volume, facial structure, and skin thickness. It gives a generalised progressive, long lasting and natural result over 2-6 months, lasting up to 2 years.
What Happens During the Procedure?
After numbing cream is applied, Sculptra is injected via a cannula to the cheeks and temple areas. The treatment protocol is 2 treatments, with 6 weeks between. A third treatment at 9 months may be advised depending on your initial skin assessment.
What Are The Side Effects?
As with any injection, expect the skin to be slightly red and swollen immediately after your treatment. This should disappear within a few days. There may be pin prick bleeding, a little bruising and swelling, and you should avoid touching the area for at least 6 hours.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
The treatment protocol is 2 treatments, with 6 weeks between. A third treatment at 9 months may be advised depending on your initial skin assessment. You can expect to see results start to appear 2-3 months after your initial treatment, and can last up to 2 years.
Aftercare Advice
Sculptra requires commitment to a little homework to ensure the best results.
The 5-5-5 protocol will be explained to you. You will be given a pack home with a Gua sha massage tool, to massage your face for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for the next 5 days. This ensures that the product is evenly spread and that your results are the best they can be, and prevents the formation of nodules.
As with most treatments, we advise no alcohol, hot environments or sweaty exercise for 24 hours afterwards.
